This was the fantastic total of Fairtrade cotton bunting decorated in the area before and during Fairtrade Fortnight, all helping to raise awareness of Fairtrade and particularly of the plight of cotton farmers and the difference that Fairtrade makes.
Many schools and other groups within Preston and South Ribble spent time learning more about Fairtrade and decorating the Fairtrade cotton bunting triangles with pictures and words about what Fairtrade means. The bunting was displayed in various schools and on the Flag Market. It was then transported by canal boat up to Garstang and then on up to Lancaster to be displayed in Williamson Park, together with the bunting produced in these areas too. It will continue its journey to London where it will be used in a bid for the world record for the longest piece of continuous bunting and to continue to campaign on Fairtrade and trade justice issues.
