The third annual Carey Challenge Cup churches five-a-side competition (at Preston College) was the first to be played with only Fairtrade Footballs. Everton manager David Moyes was the guest of honour. David gave an interview about his life in football and his Christian faith and presented the prizes. Preston City Church won the overall competition and one of their players, Michael Hindle, was judged the tournament's best player by David. Michael was presented with a signed Fairtrade football. Other signed Fairtrade footballs were raffled off in aid of the Christian Sport's chaplaincy organisation SCORE, and everyone was given free Fairtrade chocolate footballs during the interval.
