Fairtrade in South Ribble

The group, in conjunction with South Ribble Borough council, has worked to gain Fairtrade status for the borough of South Ribble over a number of years. This was a more complex process than in Preston owing to the more widespread nature of the establishments involved.

Finally status was gained for the borough in March 2009 and a celebration evening was held in April at Bamber Bridge Methodist Church, attended by campaigners, councillors and representatives from schools, churches, shops and cafes. The evening was enhanced by contributions from the Christian Aid choir, the South Ribble Concert band and schoolchildren from the borough.
